Introduction

Avaratrambolo is located in the central part of Madagascar and is part of the Analamanga region, in the district of Manjakandriana and the rural township of Ambohitrolomahitsy, with an area of 30 km2, which extends from South to North over 10km. Ambohitrolomahitsy is composed of three fokontany (a traditional Malagasy village): Avaratrambolo, Ampahitrizina, and Sahalemaka. Ambohitrolomahitsy is situated between 1200 – 1500m altitude. The fokontany of Avaratrambolo is located about 30km, North-east of Antananarivo, the national Capital City of Madagascar.
